Responsibleentertainment rules.
These are the house rules for every evening we stage, and they are the same whether the programme carries a casino-style motif or not. They exist so that guests, hosts and venue managers all read the same description of what happens in the room.

What we provide
Chip Clash provides offline event production: equipment, trained crew, setup, a written running order and teardown, at a venue chosen and held by the client. The client pays for the organisation of an evening. Nobody pays us, or anybody else, to play.
All of it happens in a physical room on a given date. We do not operate, host, resell or link to any online play of any kind.
Chips, credits and scorecards
Chips, tokens, on-screen credits and scorecards are props. Every guest is issued the same stack free of charge at the door, and the stack is counted back at the close of the evening.
Props chips cannot be bought, topped up, won in exchange for payment, carried out of the room or transferred into anything outside the evening. Hosts do not issue extras, because there is nothing to issue them against.
No stakes and no winnings
There are no stakes of money or of anything of value. There are no cash winnings. Props chips and credits cannot be exchanged for money, goods, vouchers, discounts or valuable prizes, by us or by the host.
The only outcome of a programme is a position on a standings board, a completed chart or a result read out at the close. Where a client wants to hand out a token of recognition, we ask that it stays symbolic — a printed certificate or a trophy — and the client arranges it.
Machines on free play
Where a programme includes rented cabinets with mechanical reels, each cabinet runs on its own internal credit balance that our technician loads before doors.
The bill acceptors and coin acceptors are physically removed and the cabinet doors are sealed. A guest puts nothing in and takes nothing out. The credits exist only on that screen, only for that evening.
Age
Our events are for adults. Participation is 18+ with no exception, including for programmes without any casino-style element.
Door control is the client's responsibility as the host of the event, and our crew will raise it with the client's contact if it is obviously not happening.
What we ask of the host
Describe the evening to guests the way this page describes it: a themed evening with props, not play for money.
Do not announce, print or imply a prize of money or of material value for a position on the standings board.
Keep the 18+ rule at the door, and tell us in advance if the guest list makes that difficult.
If a guest would rather not take part
Every programme has somewhere else to be: side tables, a bar point, a supper service or an open floor. A guest can hand their stack back to a host at any time with no explanation and stay for the rest of the evening.
Our hosts are briefed not to press anyone to sit at a table, and to accept a refusal the first time.
Why this is not gambling
The service does not constitute gambling, because there is no stake, no consideration paid for a chance to win, and no prize of money or property. Participation is free of charge for the guest and the outcome cannot be converted into anything of value.
This page states that meaning rather than quoting a statute, because we will not paraphrase a law we have not had checked for this exact service.
TODO: have counsel confirm and insert the exact title of the applicable gaming legislation for Quebec and Canada.
Help and information
Our evenings involve no gambling, so no gambling helpline applies to them. If a guest or a host wants information about gambling-related harm in general, a verified provincial or national service should be named here rather than one we have guessed at.
TODO: insert the verified name, phone number and URL of the provincial help and referral service before publication.
Questions about these rules
Write to us and we will answer in writing, including to a venue manager or a works council that needs it on paper.
