Mission Board

Four programmes where the room splits into teams and works against a clock. Each one has a written briefing, physical props and a result that can be read out at the end. Nothing here depends on a stage or on a host holding a microphone for two hours.

Cipher Room

Six teams of eight work a circuit of physical ciphers: a wax seal, a punch card, a radio with one working frequency and three locked boxes. Each solved layer hands out the next, and the circuit closes when the last box opens. No screens are used and no app is needed.

Pirate Landing

A landing party in four crews: rope work, a cargo relay, a chart to assemble and a barrel haul across the floor. The set is a ship rail, a sail cloth and twelve crates, which works as well on a shore terrace as in a hall. Crews earn chart pieces and the completed chart names the finishing order.

Agent Briefing

The room is a field station: a briefing wall, a document desk, a disguise rail and a dead-drop route through the venue. Eight pairs run four assignments each, sign every handover, and the station chief closes the night by reading the file aloud. The route adapts to whatever corridors and corners your venue has.

Harbour Heist

Ten crews plan and run a harbour job against a ninety-minute clock: a manifest to read, a crane sequence to time, a container to open and a route out. The floor holds a scale harbour model four metres long that the crews physically rearrange. The job either closes on time or it does not, and both endings are written up on the board.

How a mission evening runs

01

The room splits into teams of six to ten at the door, by table card rather than by department.

02

Each team gets a written briefing on paper. No app, no screens and no personal phone is needed at any point.

03

A game master holds the clock and releases optional side tasks to teams that run ahead of it.

04

The result is read out at the close, including the honest version where the clock won.

What the venue needs

  • Either one room of the area named on the format, or a set of smaller rooms and corridors we can route through.
  • Two 16 A circuits; Cipher Room and Agent Briefing also use one practical lamp per desk.
  • Permission to put removable tape and pinned paper on walls, or free-standing boards if not.
  • Goods access at least 1.2 m wide for the models, boxes and boards.

Questions

How many people make a workable team?

Six to ten. Below six a team runs out of hands for the physical tasks, and above ten somebody ends up watching. We set the split from your final guest number a week before the date.

Our venue is a series of small rooms and corridors. Does that work?

For Agent Briefing and Cipher Room it works better than one big hall, because the route and the zones use the corners. Harbour Heist needs one room that can hold the four-metre model and the crews around it.

What if a team finishes well before the clock?

Each programme carries two optional side tasks that the game master releases to teams that run ahead, so nobody stands around while the rest finish.
